With summertime in full swing, Birmingham is home to several fun events throughout June. From Harry Potter Coding Club to the Birmingham Record Store Crawl, there's something for the whole family.

We’re officially halfway through 2019, and the warm weather is driving everyone get out and about to exciting events. Whether it’s stretching during Happy Hour Yoga at Good People Brewing or geeking out at Magic City Con, Birmingham is a treasure trove of fun activities this summer. Take a look at our downloadable calendar and feel free to use it as inspiration for your own business’s social media postings.

SliceFest – June 1

Join Birmingham’s biggest pizza party by attending the 8th Annual SliceFest. Located at Slice’s Pizza and Brewhouse, the festivities will include food, beer, live music and more. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Suki Foundation.

Vulcan’s 115th Birthday Bash – June 2

Celebrate the Birmingham icon’s birthday by attending the Vulcan’s 115th Birthday Bash. Hosted at Vulcan Park, the party will entail live entertainment, local restaurants, face painting, games and more. Instead of a traditional cake, the birthday treat will cupcakes by Dreamcakes.

Happy Hour Yoga – June 4

Wind down from your work day with some yoga and beer during Good People Brewing Company’s Happy Hour Yoga Event. The class fee includes a craft beer at the end of the session.

World Wide Knit in Public Day at Hoover Library – June 8

Celebrate with other crafters for World Wide Knit in Public Day at the Hoover Library. Whether you knit, crochet or enjoy other handcrafts, you’re sure to find the event entertaining. The celebration will include door prizes, food, crafting demos like loom weaving and spinning, show-and-tell segments and opportunities to connect with other local yarn enthusiasts.

Sips for Strays – June 12

Support the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, and enjoy some delicious food and drinks, by attending the Sips for Strays event. Sponsored by Moe’s Original BBQ and Tito’s Handmade Vodka, the fundraiser will also include a raffle giving away a range of fun activities in the Birmingham area.

Funky Food Truck Festival – June 15

Taste some of the best food in B’ham at Cahaba Brewing Company’s Funky Food Truck Festival. From Alloy Thai Restaurant to the I Love Bacon Truck, there will be plenty to try. Plus the Greater Birmingham Humane Society will be on-site with adoptable dogs. The event has a suggested donation of $5, all of which will benefit the AIDS Alabama programs.

Father’s Day – June 16

Honor dad on his special day with one of the fun events happening around Birmingham. The Birmingham Zoo has a weekend special running, Saturn will be hosting a kid-friendly Grateful Dead event and plenty of local restaurants will be offering brunch specials.

Magic City Con – June 21-23

Do you have even a vague interest in nerdy or pop culture? Then Magic City Con is the place to be! With cosplay contests, gaming sessions, celebrity meet-and-greets, shopping and more, you’re sure to have an entertaining weekend.

Birmingham Taco Fest – June 22

Beat the heat with some spicy dishes at Birmingham’s 3rd Annual Taco Fest. Hosted in Sloss Furnace, the event features some of Alabama’s best taco vendors who will be competing for your vote to win for favorite taco. Along with food, there will be cold (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) drinks, live music and a kids’ area.

Harry Potter Coding Club – June 26

Learn the basics of coding, and maybe a little spell work too, with the new Harry Potter Coding Club at the Homewood Library. Open to 3rd-5th grade, wands and laptops will be provided for attendees.

Birmingham Record Store Crawl – June 29

Hop aboard the Record Store Crawl bus to see some of Birmingham’s best shops. The crawl will visit several local record stores, which are offering discounts for participants, along with providing a brunch buffet at Tin Roof Birmingham and special giveaways of swag. Please note that this event is for ages 21 and up only.
