Check out how one of our clients, Alabama Launchpad, is helping small businesses in Alabama and how they have plans to grow the organization this year to help even more.
Our clients are important to us at Infomedia. Building a website can be quite a process. And during that process, we work closely with our clients and form relationships that can continue on long after their site has launched. When we work with a client, one of our main goals is to build them a tool that will enhance and help grow their business. That’s why it’s so exciting for us to read about them in the news and learn all about the ways their business is excelling.
Each month on our blog, we’re going to pick a client we’ve recently read about in the news to spotlight. This month, that client is Alabama Launchpad, a project of EDPA. Alabama Launchpad gives Alabama startups and early stage companies the chance to win a share of $100,000 that they can use as seed money to help make their business more appealing to investors. The funds come from the private sector, EDPA, seven different Alabama universities and the Alabama Research Alliance.
And the organization is growing. For the first time since Alabama Launchpad started in 2006, they were able to hold two rounds of competition and have hopes for a third round later in the year. The goal is to eventually expand the competition to a total of four annual rounds. The growth of this organization is not only contributing to Alabama’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, but it’s also helping to create businesses that in turn create jobs for our state.
In May, the first round winners were announced and Mobile’s Exscien Corp took home more than half of the $100,000 prize. The biotechnology firm develops drugs to repair damage to mitochondrial DNA. Infomedia would like to wish good luck to all of the contestants competing in the second round of the competition! Those winners will be announced in September. And to all of those new business, if you happen to need a website, we know of a great company that can build you one… Just sayin.
