How to Give Your Website Company Access to Your Google Analytics Account
When you start working with Infomedia, we’re going to ask for your Google Analytics access right off the bat. Why? Because it gives us the ability to review real data on how users interact with your site, which helps us:
- Prepare for our initial meeting with a better understanding of your current traffic patterns, key performance indicators and user behavior.
- Make informed decisions about your sitemap, design and overall user journey. We use this data to ensure that your website evolves to better serve your audience.
- Identify opportunities for improvement early on, so we can focus on the areas that will give you the biggest return on investment.
If you already have Google Analytics access:
Google has an excellent guide on how to add, edit and delete users and user groups. This guide is perfect if you already have access to your Google Analytics account and just need to grant Infomedia access.
But what if you don’t have access yet?
If you don’t have access to Google Analytics:
1. Check who sends you reports.
Do you receive regular traffic or analytics reports? If so, reach out to the person or company sending them and ask them to give you access to your Google Analytics account. You can also send them the Google guide above to walk them through the process of granting access.
2. Reach out to previous marketing managers, website hosts or IT companies.
They might have set up your Google Analytics account and still have access. Again, send them this article and the Google guide to help you get or give access.
3. Try to contact Google if you can’t track down access.
In some cases, Google can help recover access to your account. You’ll need to provide some verification to prove you own the domain and account.
4. Create a new account if all else fails.
If you can’t get access to your old Google Analytics account, the best option may be to start fresh with a new one. Chances are, if you haven’t had access for a while, you probably weren’t converted to GA4 (Google’s latest version of Analytics) anyway, so it’s a good time to set up a new account and start tracking.
Ready to grant access?
Once you have access to your Google Analytics account, use the Google guide to grant access to Infomedia. This will ensure we have all the data we need to make smart, data-driven decisions for your website’s redesign and optimization.
If you need help with any of these steps, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We’re here to help you through the process!
