Infomedia is looking for self-motivated and responsible interns to join us at our office in Birmingham, Alabama. Limited remote opportunities are also available for consideration. Interns will be expected to be curious, hungry for knowledge, and willing to make mistakes. We’re a full-service web company: We love the challenge of delivering truly custom websites that function well. This is an unpaid internship, but interns who meet qualifying standards may have opportunities for paid freelance work.

Graphic Design Intern

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and design print and digital materials
  • Adhere to brand guidelines and complete projects according to deadlines
  • Retouch and manipulate images
  • Use graphic design software and work with a wide variety of media
  • Collaborate with the Art Director to develop design concepts
  • Receive feedback from the Art Director and make necessary changes
  • Assemble final presentation material for printing as needed

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of layouts, typography, line composition, color, and other graphic design fundamentals
  • Strong creative and analytical skills
  • Compelling portfolio of graphic design work

Preferred

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, InDesign, and Dreamweaver.  
  • Experience with WebFlow, Squarespace, Shopify, or other web-based platforms

Development Intern

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Meeting with clients and Infomedia team members to discuss website design and function
  • Building the website front-end from a wireframe
  • Creating the website architecture
  • Designing and managing the website back-end including database and server integration
  • Conducting website performance tests
  • Making updates and adding new features to existing client websites
  • Troubleshooting content issues
  • Monitoring the performance of the live website

Requirements

  • Good understanding of website architecture and aesthetics
  • Ability to manage projects independently
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve

Preferred

  • Knowledge of web development languages, including PHP, Javascript, jQuery, HTML, and CSS
  • Knowledge of code versioning tools including Git
  • Experience working with debugging tools such as Chrome Inspector and Firebug
  • Enrolled in a related 4-year program with an accredited college or university, or certificate course from a “coding bootcamp” that focuses on web development

Marketing & Social Media Intern

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation of email campaigns, online promotion, etc.
  • Assist in the distribution or delivery of marketing materials
  • Perform analysis of marketing and Google Analytics data
  • Enter contact information into contact management systems
  • Maintain tracking report of public relations activity
  • Assist the Marketing Manager in creating and publishing social media content
  • Create actionable plans to grow and maintain followers on Infomedia’s and client’s social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter)
  • Monitor social media for trending topics to utilize on social media channels
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest social media best practices and technologies
  • Stay up-to-date on appropriate style guidelines and brand voice for consistency in messaging 

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of social media
  • Driven and hard-working
  • Ability to take direction and multi-task
  • Social media or content marketing experience a plus
  • Copywriting experience a plus

Copywriting Intern

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gain understanding quickly with clients’ products and services, the target audience and competitors’ activities
  • Develop creative ideas and concepts working closely with the Marketing Manager and the Head of Project Strategy
  • Amending, revising or redeveloping adverts, web copy or campaigns in response to feedback from the Marketing Manager, account team or clients
  • Perform additional duties and help with other projects assigned by the manager

Requirements

  • Think critically under tight deadlines.
  • Copywriting experience, preferably in website development or advertising
  • Experience in the digital world and affinity for new technologies is a plus
  • Passion and skill for writing and communicating
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and written with the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Strong work ethic and  listening skills ethic while also being able to tackle multiple projects at once

Customer Support Intern

Responsibilities

  • Work in an agile, collaborative environment to understand requirements, design, code, and test the functionality of new websites, and support those websites for our customers
  • Create products that provide a great user experience along with high performance, security, quality, and stability
  • Own the customer experience by solving complex business problems for our clients
  • Work directly with the customer to understand and troubleshoot issues, collect data, elicit detailed requirements, then design and implement innovative solutions across multiple departments at Infomedia

Requirements

  • Highly motivated and have a passion for creating and supporting great products
  • Open to collaboration, working side by side with people of all backgrounds and disciplines 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Skilled at solving problems, debugging, troubleshooting, designing, and implementing solutions to complex technical issues
  • A working understanding of website structure and functionalities

Interns Duties and Responsibilities

  • Answer phone inquiries, direct calls, and provide basic company information
  • Perform clerical duties, take notes, maintain files, and organize documents; photocopy, fax, etc. as needed
  • Assist in preparing information and research materials and presentations
  • Run general industry related errands
  • Manage databases and input information, data, and records
  • Shadow various team members within the office
  • Set up, break down, organize, and maintain conference rooms, training rooms, and meeting rooms; update company calendars and make coffee
  • Attend company functions and networking events
  • Have school structured time with lessons, homework, etc.

Interns Requirements and Qualifications

  • Proficient computer skills, including Google Drive and WordPress (preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
