Your website is a representation of your business, so it’s important to make sure it’s representing you well. If it’s hard for your website visitors to find what they’re looking for, they’re likely to go somewhere else. But luckily, it’s easy to avoid that confusion and distrust by auditing your website for a few common mistakes:
- Not having a phone number
- Hard to find business information (hours of operation, address, etc.)
- Website isn’t mobile responsive
- Lack of security/SSL (learn more on this episode of One Quick Question)
- Including social media feeds on the website (these are outdated and tend to break often)
- Bad photos (low quality, incorrect orientation [more on that here] or too much stock photography [more on that here])
- Outdated photos or information
- Not enough headlines or calls to action
- Cluttered sitemap (too many pages)
- Lengthy, boring “About” page
If you check on your website and notice any of these mistakes, our team at Infomedia is happy to help you fix any issues — just reach out to us. But if you’re not at that point yet, have your friends or family audit your website. Oftentimes, all it takes is another pair of eyes to notice something you may not have seen before.
This week, Carrie has been loving the Little Professor podcast, A Little Bookish. It’s hosted by Meredith and McCall, two real-life friends who just love books. According to Carrie, you feel a little like you’re in the Gilmore Girls when you’re listening — it’s like hanging out with a couple of friends.
