Why is my website loading slowly?

Your website’s speed is an important factor of its overall performance. A good loading speed is generally 1-2 seconds. If it takes longer than that to load, people will likely leave your website — and no one wants that!

There are free services like GTMetrix and Pingdom that you can use to evaluate your website speed. But remember: these services don’t provide a comprehensive evaluation — there’s more to your website’s performance than the speed.

So you use one of these tools and find out that your website is slow. Now what? Consider these factors that may play a part in slowing down your website:

  • Photos that have too high of a resolution
  • Too many files on your website
  • Incorrect code
  • Incompatibility with third-party integrations

These are a good starting point, but there are many other factors that could also be playing a part. If you’re not able to pinpoint the exact problem, it’s probably a good idea to hire a professional web developer to find and fix the issue.

When it comes to your website’s performance, it’s all a balancing act. Our team is here to help — even if we didn’t build your website, we can still host and support it and help you resolve issues when they inevitably arise. So get in touch with us today!
