We hear a lot about AI these days — maybe you’ve heard of someone using an AI art generator or someone using ChatGPT to write a research paper. But we wanted to take a step back and discuss the meaning of AI and how it works at a high level. AI is an acronym that stands for artificial intelligence, and at a basic level it’s a network of computers trying to replicate human behavior.
There are two descriptors for AI: narrow and general. Narrow AI is built to perform specific tasks and help us do things — think of Siri, Alexa and Google Home. General AI is meant to perform intellectual tasks that require more human ability, like writing — think of Jasper AI or ChatGPT.
