In honor of X-Men: Apocalypse coming out, we've listed our favorite mutant powers from the movie and how they'd come in handy for web design and development.

Everyone has had moments of wishing they had superpowers, and here at Infomedia, we’re no different. We work on creative projects, and “I wish you could read my mind” is something that we hear on a daily basis, so you can’t blame us if we’re a little jealous of someone like Professor Xavier who can look at a person and know exactly what they’re thinking. We have to admit, having a few X-Men-style abilities might make our days more exciting.
So in honor of X-Men: Apocalypse coming out tomorrow, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite mutant powers from the movie and (using our own super ability to stretch any topic into a semi-related blog post) some superpowers that we use around the web design offices. So sit back, strap in, grab some popcorn, and enjoy this mutant-filled extravaganza!
Professor Xavier
Telepathy, mind reading/manipulation, and other psionic powers.
Like we said before, who wouldn’t love the ability to read minds? We sure would! But we can’t! No matter how many phone calls we have, emails we read, diagrams we watch someone draw, we … just … can’t. But no worries, because even if we weren’t blessed with the same mutant gene of Professor X, we were blessed with the power of “patience” and “using context clues.”
So, even though we might not be able to know that, when a client says, “I want more cats on my homepage,” they actually mean, “I want 72 cats on my homepage” — we are more than happy to patiently work together to discover that 71 cats is too little and 73 cats is far too many.
Mystique
Shapeshifting
We’ve all had those moments of not feeling like ourselves, but with the ability to completely change her physical appearance, Mystique takes that to a whole new level. Not only would her power make her great at playing a game of Charades or Guess Who?; she’d be the perfect accomplice to pull off some amazing pranks.
Unfortunately, none of us at Infomedia have the ability to shapeshift, but we’ve got the next best super power: multitasking! It’s not quite the same as being able to physically change your entire appearance to look, sound, and act like a completely different person, but it’s great for getting any job done no matter how small or large. At Infomedia, we have support, production, and marketing departments that are staffed with amazing people, all with the ability to multitask. On top of everyone being able to do many things at the same time, we’re great at working together and communicating. So, if one person isn’t able to do what’s needing to be done, there are five people behind them to back them up. It’s almost like having our very own team of X-Men, but a lot geekier, and not nearly as cool, or heroic, or anything like an actual team of X-Men! But besides all of that, we’re always eager to help to make sure that no matter the task at hand it’s done and done well.
Magneto
Magnetism
Although Magneto isn’t always part of the X-Men, he has served as an ally many times. With his power over metal, it makes him one of the most powerful (and coolest in my opinion) mutants within the series. I won’t go into a nerd rant, but I’m including him in this list because he’s my favorite mutant, and of how absolutely cool (see opinion above) he really is.
How he relates to us at Infomedia, I’m not really sure. Sometimes we throw pens at each other from across the office. This is something Magneto could also do … but with his mind, and in a much cooler fashion. So if you need pens, paper clips, little balls of aluminum foil, or other small metallic objects (or anything really — it doesn’t have to be metallic) thrown across an office somewhere, then give us a call.
Cyclops
Optic Blast
Sure, Cyclops isn’t the most amazing of the X-Men, but with his power to shoot laser beams from his eyes, he’s still pretty handy for when you need to take down a 30’ Sentinel or slice and toast some bread at the same time.
The defining trait of Cyclops is his eyes, and if there’s one thing that Infomedia is great at, it’s having an eye for detail. (Shut up! You’re lucky you didn’t get more of these puns.) We strive to always make sure that everything we send out the door works well and looks great. Our designers make sure that every design is pixel perfect before sending it off to our programmers, and we all work together to make sure that things are easy to use, great to look at, and function in a way that custom fits each and every one of our clients. We may not be able to boil water with our vision, but we’re more than capable of seeing when an icon is one pixel too far to the right.
Quicksilver
Supersonic Speed
Quicksilver is fast and that’s pretty much all there is to him. It’s such a simple power, but still extremely useful. The thing is that being able to watch a bullet move through space is great and all, but it’s even better to be able to grab said bullet and point it back and the guy who fired it at you. And that’s what Infomedia does. With our superspeed and precision we hurl proverbial bullets back all day long. Our support staff’s response time rivals even that of Quicksilver when it comes to handling support tickets. The reason I can say that is because I’ve never seen an issue of X-Men where Quicksilver handled support tickets; ergo, we’re faster. We’re always available to answer the phone any time of day, morning, noon, or night as long as it’s between the hours of 8 and 5, Monday through Friday. Just kidding! We’re even available on weekends! We just can’t seem to stop working!
So whether it be reading minds, shapeshifting, magnetism, optic blasts, or supersonic speed, you’ll find none of that here, but you will find some equally cool and other somewhat relatable powers. In the end, we may not have fancy costumes or awesome superhero names, but Infomedia is always here for our clients to help them out in any way we possibly can. So if you have a question, feel free to give us a call, shoot us an email, or telepathically blast a message our way.
